Mangaluru, Aug.15: Expert PU College, Kodialbail, marked India’s 79th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration that blended patriotism, inspiration, and leadership. The campus resonated with the spirit of freedom as students, staff, and dignitaries gathered for the event.
The ceremony was graced by Ms. Geetha Kulkarni, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mangalore City Crime Branch, as the chief guest. She unfurled the National Flag and opened her address with a heartfelt childhood prayer: “Hai Bhagwaan, hum tere bacche nadaan, pada likh kar hum bane mahaan, aisa do humein varadaan.”
Emphasizing that independence is more than a historic milestone, Ms. Kulkarni said, “The vision of our ancestors extended beyond political freedom to building a progressive nation rooted in values. Independence is a living responsibility we uphold every day.” She called on students to lead with honesty, integrity, and purpose, carrying forward the spirit of the flag with pride and commitment.
Chairman Narendra L. Nayak reflected on the challenges India faced in the early years post-Independence, from population pressures to infrastructural gaps. “We overcame immense challenges to reach where we are today. But the journey continues. Discipline and hard work must remain lifelong companions for anyone aspiring to lead and contribute to the nation,” he said.
The occasion also witnessed the formal induction of the Student Council for the academic year 2025–26. Vice Chairperson Dr. Ushaprabha Nayak administered the Cabinet Oath, urging students to break free from self-imposed limitations. “Slavery isn’t only about colonial rule. Today, it’s the mindset that holds us back. True freedom lies in liberating ourselves from thoughts that hinder growth,” she observed.
